Memorial Day Parade, 2017
Plans for the parade, according to organizer Marell Staffel, includes the parade from the old American Legion parking lot on Garfield, down Bridge Street to Clinton, then over to a gathering location in East Park. There will be a Pledge of Allegiance led by a high school student, an invocation and the traditional gun salute over the harbor. Patriotic music will be provided by the CHS band. There will be a remembrance ceremony at the cemetery at 9:00 a.m. preceding the parade. The names of the fallen will be displayed on a banner which has been designed to lead the entourage down Bridge Street. The Friends of the Library invite all of you to join us in honoring our local fallen soldiers by carrying memorial banners in the parade that morning. In addition, individuals, families, grandparents,
grandchildren, moms with strollers, kids in wagons or on bikes decked out in red, white and blue… are all welcome! Pets are welcome if they will not be upset by the music or gunshots. We need a good showing so be sure to ask your families, friends and neighbors to join us!
