Parent Newsletter- March 12, 2021

Spring Forward: Daylight savings time begins this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour.
St. Patrick’s Day: On Sunday, March 14, from 12:00 to 2:00, we will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Please join us for corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, along with dessert. This fundraiser is for our school’s Middle School. We are asking each family to bring in a pre-made pie purchased from a retail store (we cannot take homemade items). If you have any questions regarding this, please let me know. We ask that it be something that does not have to be refrigerated. All pies should be dropped off today or tomorrow. Thank you for helping with this fundraiser. Thursday, March 11: We celebrated Mr. Ed’s birthday with a jean day/sweatshirt day. The students donated $517 which will be sent to St. Jude’s in honor of Mr. Ed. Thank you for your generosity. Mr. Ed was thrilled and honored.
Open House: Our All School (PreK- 8 grade) Open House and registration for new families will be held on Tuesday, April 20st from 5pm to 6:30pm. If you know of anyone with children who may be interested in St. Mary School, please encourage them to attend. You are our best form of advertisement! Help needed: We are still looking for help on Wednesdays and Fridays for lunch duty.
St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary Solemnity March 19: The spouse of Mary the mother of Jesus and the legal father of Jesus according to Jewish law, Joseph is a model of humility and obedience to God’s will. He followed God’s instructions, given by angels in dreams, and took the pregnant Mary into his home as his wife, protected her and Jesus at the child’s birth in Bethlehem through the family’s sojourn in Egypt, and provided for them as a carpenter in Nazareth. This feast became a universal feast in the fifteenth century, when it was placed on the liturgical calendar. Pope Pius IX named St. Joseph Patron of the Universal Church in 1870; he is also the patron saint of carpenters, the dying, and workers. “Being a guardian is the distinctive trait of Joseph: Being the guardian is his great mission . . . We look to Joseph as the model educator, who watches over and accompanies Jesus as he grows ‘in wisdom, age and grace,’ as the Gospel says. He was not Jesus’ father: the father of Jesus was God, but he was a father to Jesus, he was a father to Jesus in order to help him grow. And how did he help him grow? In wisdom, age and grace.”-Pope Francis, March 19, 2014 . Students will attend Mass on March 19 at 8:30am, please join us.
